Herb of the Moment – Purple Mr. Nice

This week I get to introduce you to a strain that combines some legendary elements of the huge, world-wide marijuana story… Purple Mr. Nice.
History Time!
Back in the 1980’s there was one man who ruled the world of Hash, and that man was Howard Marks of Great Britian, also known as Mr. Nice… here’s a little write up from his website.
During the mid 1980s, Howard Marks had forty-three aliases, eighty-nine phone lines, and twenty five companies trading throughout the world.
Bars, recording studios, offshore banks: all were money-laundering vehicles serving the core activity: dope dealing.
Marks began to deal during a postgraduate philosophy course at Oxford and was soon moving large quantities of hashish into Europe and America in the equipment of touring rock bands. The academic life began to lose its allure.
At the height of his career, he was smuggling consignments of up to thirty tons from Pakistan and Thailand to America and Canada and had contact with organisations as diverse as the CIA, MI6, the IRA, and the Mafia.
After many years and a world-wide operation by the Drug Enforcement Agency, he was busted and sentenced to twenty five years in prison at the United States Federal Penitentiary, Terre Haute, Indiana, the site of America’s only Federal Death Row.
He was released on parole in April 1995 after serving seven years of his sentence.

Howard Marks had a strain named in his honor a decade ago that celebrates the hashy background of Mr. Nice. The strain, appropriately called Mr. Nice, is a high-potency, double indica cross of G13 and Hash Plant…
According to weed folklore, the original G13 cutting was rescued from a government research facility by an unknown technician. In civilian circles the plant`s earth-shaking Indica potency, together with her tale of liberation, lifted G13 to almost legendary status. Creating seeds that captured G13`s astounding qualities required a very special pollen-father, which was eventually found in the Hash Plant breeding-program. The resulting G13xHP seed-strain, though a `limited edition`, was a great success in the few years it was available.
In 1999, Sensi Seeds was very proud to bring G13 x Hash Plant back into production with the title Mr Nice, in honour of Howard Marks – cannabis campaigner, author and one-time hashish entrepreneur. Indica connoisseurs will love the mouth-watering `double Afghani` bouquet of Mr Nice. Dark, earthy undertones are overlaid with the rich, spicy-sweet scent of raw resin glands. When consuming the stickiest nuggets, the taste of burning trichomes can be strong enough to convince people that they`re smoking a mix of hashish and ganja. For growers seeking a dense, heavy, ultra-powerful crop and anyone who enjoys testing their limits, Mr Nice – G13 x Hash Plant is the ultimate Indica!

Now – Let’s Make It Purple!
Where does that amazing purple color come from? Granddaddy Purple!
You don’t have to be around me for too long to know how much I love Granddaddy Purple, or GDP for short. GDP is a delicious, purple-tasting Indica-dominate strain that is outstanding when it’s grown well.
The breeder of this new strain was able to capture the purple color of the GDP, but the traditional GDP smell and taste is minimal. The Mr. Nice smell and flavor (this strain is not about smell and flavor) dominates this flower and creates a more complex flavor.
But you’re not going to use this strain because of color, flavor or smell, but because it’s a very powerful double-Indica. You will feel fuzzy and stoned and couch-lock is very possible. I recommend this one for individuals with a higher-tolerance – and do not operate heavy machinery after smoking.

Purple Mr. Nice Hash
The member who brought in the Purple Mr. Nice also brought in some very nice hash too… how appropriate.
